TAT Technologies (TATT): Honeywell Rights Meet Aftermarket Catch-Up

TAT Technologies is converting a multi-year commercial aftermarket boom into reported revenue after a first-quarter parts bottleneck finally broke. The second-quarter print is less a new demand cycle than a release of work that sat unfinished when a major original-equipment manufacturer could not ship. That catch-up is genuine, and it is not a clean new run-rate. The investment debate is whether Honeywell Aerospace's grant of exclusive spare-parts distribution on the long-lived auxiliary-power-unit family, plus a repair license stretched into the next decade, turns this licensed shop into a platform owner rather than a capacity renter.

Second-quarter revenue reached $52.9 million. That is a twenty-three percent lift from the year-ago quarter. First-half operating income stayed at $8.6 million. Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization held a mid-teens margin even as inventory and receivables absorbed cash. A $4.3 million minority-sale gain more than doubled reported net income. Strip that gain and the quarter is a solid operations print, not a transformation. Management itself told listeners to average the first half rather than treat the June quarter as the new baseline.

Backlog and long-term agreements climbed again at mid-year. The next several quarters resolve whether the Greensboro auxiliary-power-unit shop can keep converting work without another parts stall, whether landing-gear remains starved of used serviceable material, and whether Honeywell distribution starts to show up as product revenue rather than just inventory. The equity already gave back a large share of last year's re-rating from the fifty-two-week high. The open question is whether the Honeywell rights and the backlog are still being under-earned, or whether the de-rating correctly treats the June print as a one-time catch-up.
