Rail Vision (RVSN): Yard Channel Opens as Cash Still Carries Equity

Rail Vision is an Israeli railway-perception vendor that finally has a named United States commercial channel, and the investment case now turns on whether that channel converts from a single-customer delivery into a repeatable yard franchise. First-half sales jumped because ShuntingYard systems went to Railserve, the Marmon Rail switching operator inside Berkshire Hathaway. That is a real customer, not another pilot note. The problem is scale. The operating loss still dwarfs the new sales, so the equity remains a cash stub with an attached commercial option rather than a self-funding industrial name.

Cash, cash equivalents and restricted cash still sit near $15.6 million after a half-year operating outflow of $6.2 million. Management reports no financial debt, so the residual claim is a race between that cash pile and the cost of staying listed while chasing Class One railroads and Israel Railways follow-on work. Gross profit did become more meaningful, at $317 thousand. That still covers only a sliver of research spending that includes a one-time write-off of acquired Quantum Transportation in-process work. The market is not confused about the shape of this profit and loss statement. It is discounting the cash because dilution and burn look larger than the current order book.

The next several quarters resolve a simple question. Does Railserve sign a binding expansion after the YardGUARD integration, and does Israel Railways move ShuntingYard from field tests into a cargo-division order, or does the story stay a sequence of proofs of concept while the at-the-market program quietly replaces cash? MxV Rail's locomotive-sensor pre-integration test under the Association of American Railroads puts the technology in front of Class One freight operators for Restricted Speed Enforcement, the automated stop-and-slow discipline that North American freight is trying to add on top of human lookout. Until those paths produce multi-system orders, a share price below cash is a statement about conversion risk, not a bargain on idle deposits.
