QT Imaging Holdings (QTI): Shipments Scale Faster Than Clinical Adoption

QT Imaging Holdings is a Novato breast-imaging device company whose second-quarter print proves it can ship scanners against distributor minimums, yet the equity still turns on whether those boxes become reimbursed exams. Revenue more than doubled to $7 million. Fifteen Breast Acoustic CT units left the dock in the quarter. That shipment cadence is the first real commercial scale since the GigCapital5 combination, and it is also the source of the debate. Hardware can leave the factory on a Canon-backed purchase order while end-clinic placement, utilization, and reimbursement still lag. The investment case is not whether the company can build scanners. The case is whether an installed base converts into a durable imaging franchise before dilution and cash use force another raise.

NXC Imaging, a Canon Medical Systems United States subsidiary, still takes nearly all product sales. Gross margin settled at forty-one percent, which management calls the expected United States distributor rate rather than a temporary dip. Operating cash use accelerated even as a May underwritten offering brought in about $10 million of gross proceeds. Gulf Medical and Al Naghi contracts advertise multi-year minimums, but management itself says geopolitical friction has slowed Gulf activity and that NXC still needs help getting scanners from warehouse to clinic. The growth is real. The quality of that growth is what the second half has to prove.

Net loss widened because of an $8 million non-cash charge tied to a Lynrock Lake loan amendment that pushed maturity into March 2029 and lifted the coupon. Cash including restricted balances sat near $11 million at mid-year and near $14 million after receivables came in. Management reaffirmed the $39 million sales target and sketched a second-half United States shipment plan that still depends on NXC. Does third-quarter placement catch up with the boxes already shipped, or does another capital raise arrive before Category III reimbursement even starts?
