Marchex is no longer trying to win as a standalone conversation-analytics vendor. The early July close of Archenia recasts the Seattle company as a vertically focused customer-acquisition platform that sells verified outcomes rather than call transcripts. The sellers include the chairman and the vice chairman, so the combination is both the growth plan and a related-party capital event. Standalone second-quarter revenue still contracted versus the year-ago period even as sequential sales ticked higher on upsells. That split is the entire investment debate in miniature: the legacy analytics book is still shrinking, and the new story lives in a deal that had not yet hit the income statement when the June quarter closed.
The mechanism management is selling is wallet expansion inside a concentrated installed base. A home-services account that had been an analytics relationship roughly doubled once it adopted AI-verified outcomes, and an advertising customer converted a paid Voice Agent pilot into a commercial deployment in mid-September. Those anecdotes are real, but they sit on top of a franchise whose five largest accounts still carry more than a third of sales and whose top hundred names carry about ninety percent. Cash finished the June quarter at $8 million, already below the year-end balance, before the first note tranche, the Telmetrics settlement checks, and any earn-out shares come due. The convertible paper is struck at $1.80.
What the market is pricing, with the Class B last near a dollar and a quarter, is a micro-cap that has not yet proven the combined run-rate. Pro forma second-quarter sales sit near $16 million and the third-quarter outlook asks investors to believe a further step-up plus adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization in the low-two-million area after deal costs. The open question is whether those early bundled wins compound through the existing verticals, or whether a founder-led related-party combination merely restates a still-contracting analytics book at a larger scale.
