Hyperfine (HYPR): The Yield Turn in Bedside Imaging

Bedside imaging crossed from engineering curiosity into a fundable commercial category. Hyperfine cleared the original Swoop scanner for head imaging in 2020, and replaced that platform with a next generation machine cleared one year ago. The commercial story now turns on yield per scanner rather than on count of scanners. A device selling near $360,000 while quarterly installs stay modest converts volume weakness into revenue strength, and the fourth quarter of 2025 posted revenue growth near one hundred twenty eight percent on a small base. The argument in this report treats scanner economics, not scanner volume, as the variable that sets the pace.

The placement record looks contradictory until product mix enters. Net placements for 2025 fell to thirty eight from forty eight a year earlier, yet fourth quarter revenue reached $5.29 million. An average selling price near $360,000, up thirty six percent sequentially, explains most of the gap. The neurology office channel carries the richer configuration and the clearer billing path, so unit decline in legacy accounts coexists with price strength in the new one. Which force dominates through 2026 is the central question this report addresses.

Cash, not demand, is the binding constraint on both bull and bear paths. The balance stood near twenty one point six million as the third quarter closed, and quarterly burn had fallen to roughly $5.9 million. A Gates Foundation grant worth $3.7 million supports deployment where commercial pricing alone cannot yet reach. Management guides toward a runway extending into 2028 after an equity financing and an initial debt tranche. Slippage in the office channel rollout drains that cushion faster than the plan assumes, and slippage is the base case risk.

The market already pays for a narrow slice of this story. In the late August close the stock traded near $0.90 against a market value around $96 million. Trailing revenue of $16.54 million prices the equity well above generic hardware comparables, which leaves little room for execution error. Analyst targets cluster near $2.03, roughly double the current print, signaling wide dispersion between modeled outcomes. The disciplined stance underwrites the office channel working rather than hoping it does.
