U.S. Global Investors is a San Antonio boutique asset manager whose fiscal 2026 swing from a small loss to a small profit is the story. The company turned profitable on the back of a gold price that set records and a newly launched aerospace and defense ETF, and the equity now trades on a multiple that prices in a durable recovery rather than a one quarter bounce.

The load bearing number is total assets under management, which ended the year near the top of the range the company has seen in several years. That asset growth lifted advisory fees into positive territory and pulled the operating loss down from three million to just under six hundred thousand.

Net income for the full year reached $3.1 million, or $0.24 per share. That compares with a loss of $334,000 a year earlier. The tension is that a large part of the profit is non recurring. Net investment income includes a $3.2 million non cash gain on a crypto mining holding, and the Q3 per share figure was restated after a spreadsheet error.

The forward question is whether advisory fees keep compounding as gold assets hold, or whether the next print reverts to the thin margins the company ran for most of the last five years.
