Clene Inc. is a late clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company whose investment thesis now hangs on a single late-2026 regulatory event: the planned submission of a New Drug Application for CNM-Au8 in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis under the accelerated approval pathway. New neurofilament light chain biomarker analyses from two completed Phase 2 trials, released that month, showed treated patients whose NfL declined or stabilized lived significantly longer than randomized controls, providing the surrogate-endpoint narrative management has been building toward. The combined cash runway disclosure and the modest quarterly burn set a hard calendar that intersects the regulatory milestone.

Second-quarter revenue reached $90 thousand, up modestly from $27 thousand a year ago. Net loss for the quarter reached $13.4 million, or $1.08 per share, compared to a smaller loss a year ago, with the widening driven almost entirely by a non-cash change in warrant and derivative liability fair value rather than by any deterioration in the underlying cost base. Research and development expense held essentially flat year-over-year and general and administrative declined.

The next nine months answer whether the NDA submission lands cleanly, whether accelerated approval carries confirmatory-study obligations requiring additional capital, and whether the dilution cycle since the filing date has any further to run before a regulatory catalyst arrives.
