Capstone Energy Plus, Inc. enters the second half of fiscal 2027 as a reorganized microturbine specialist that has used the quiet months between bankruptcy emergence and Nasdaq uplisting to reframe its identity around artificial intelligence and data-center power. The issuer, formerly known as Capstone Green Energy Holdings, Inc. and before that as Capstone Turbine Corporation, emerged from Chapter 11 in late 2023. It rebranded in the spring of 2026. The common stock commenced trading on the Nasdaq Global Market under the symbol CEPL in mid-2026 after a long stretch on the OTCQX Best Market under the legacy CGEH symbol. The narrative that the new ticker attempts to communicate is that the company is no longer the cyclical microturbine vendor that oil-and-gas operators once rented in volume. It is now an on-site, behind-the-meter power platform purpose-built for the AI infrastructure buildout.

The first fiscal quarter of 2027 delivered a clean improvement on operating quality even as headline revenue contracted. Net revenue declined by roughly $3.0M to $24.9M. Gross margin expanded by about 800 basis points. Operating income flipped positive at about $1.0M. Net income came in at a near-zero figure, ending several years of recurring quarterly losses. Operating cash flow of $5.4M marked a swing of $7.0M year-over-year. The improvement reflects a sharper product mix, the higher-margin contribution from the recently acquired Cal Microturbine distributor business, and a $3.7M customer deposit on an order slated for later this fiscal year. The combination reads as a constructive operational story rather than a one-time accounting event.

The qualitative story arc is more interesting than the near-term income statement. The board has executed four discrete events in the most recent reporting period: the corporate name change to Capstone Energy+, Inc., the uplisting to Nasdaq, the effectiveness of a shelf registration in early August, and the August 2026 California Air Resources Board Notice of Violation involving 27 distributed generation units. Each event reframes the equity story in a different direction. The first event anchored the company's commitment to AI-adjacent power, the second gave the new identity a public market, the third armed the balance sheet for whatever comes next, and the fourth reminded investors that this is a hardware business subject to emissions compliance in its largest U.S. state. Together the four events trace a coherent repositioning of the equity from a small-cap legacy microturbine name into a credible behind-the-meter AI infrastructure candidate, an arc that explains why the recent closing price sits well above the $5.00 Series A Preferred conversion threshold even as the company remains in early-stage commercialization for its flagship direct-current offering.
