ACM Research: Cleaning Tools Anchor a $4 Billion Aspiration Built on a Shifting China Base

ACM Research delivered a cleaner-than-feared second quarter on August 7, 2026, with revenue of $292.9 million up 36% year over year and shipments of $281.5 million up 36.4%, the third consecutive quarter in which the equipment-maker of single-wafer cleaning, electroplating, and packaging tools has grown ahead of the wafer-fab equipment market. The 2,000th ECP chamber shipment in the quarter, the first production order for a 510-by-515 millimeter Ultra ECP ap-p panel-plating tool from a mainland China advanced-packaging customer, and the $1.36 billion in cash and short-term time deposits on the balance sheet are the three pieces of evidence that argue the equipment franchise is widening, not just filling. The thesis an investor is being asked to underwrite is that ACM can compound revenue toward the management-stated $4 billion long-term target - a figure almost 3.5x the $1.15 billion 2026 guide midpoint - by adding panel-level packaging, PECVD, furnace, and Track products to its installed cleaning and plating base in mainland China, while the United States and Korea facilities under construction create a second geography for when the BIS Entity List overhang finally resolves. The bear case lives in a single structural question: roughly 90% of revenue still ships to customers in mainland China (the most recent quarterly filing discloses three customers accounting for 43.5% of Q2 revenue), the BIS Entity List designations on ACM Shanghai and ACM Korea have been live since December 2, 2024, and the U.S. Treasury's COINS Act changes do not unwind Entity List restrictions. The next data point that tests the multi-year compounding case is the Q3 2026 print, where management is implicitly guiding to a sequential ramp given the 25%-to-30% full-year outlook at $1.125 billion to $1.175 billion - implying the back half must produce roughly $600 million to $650 million to clear even the low end, a step-function from the $524.2 million first half.
